When I can find the time, I also contribute to open source projects. Either a small contribution to a large project, or bigger contributions to smaller projects.

Selection of contributions:

• I provided multiple small contributions to Django.
• In 2013, I created (and still maintain to this day) python-dwca-reader, a niche tool frequently used in the biodiversity informatics community.
• I initiated PyInaturalist, a bridge library between the iNaturalist citizen science project / social network and Python code.
• As a learning experience, I built a simple QGIS plugin that became surprisingly popular.
• I also contributed (French) translations to open source software, for example GBIF's Integrated Publishing Toolkit.

Open-data is cool, too 🙂

• I published host plant data for around 2700 species of butterflies and moths to Wikidata.
• When spending time in nature, I record my observations using iNaturalist, so they are eventually published to GBIF to help advance science and society.
• I regularly contribute to OpenStreetMap.
